Daisy Cooper has been Liberal Democrat MP for St Albans since 2019. Born in Bury St. Edmunds, in her early career she worked for Voluntary Services Overseas and for the Hacked Off Campaign. In 2017 she was selected to fight St. Albans – prior to that she had fought Suffolk Coastal in 2010 and Mid Sussex in 2015. In the 2017 election Cooper finished second and in 2019 went one better, defeating the sitting Conservative MP Anne Main with a comfortable majority of 6,293 and becoming the first Liberal to win the constituency since 1904. In parliament she has spoken for the Party on Education, Justice and the DCMS. She currently speaks for the Party on Health, Wellbeing and Social Care. In September 2020, she was elected Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats.
